GOLF WEEKENDS IN HOT SPRINGS, VIRGINIA

Two great courses.
One lovely weekend.

A round at The Cascades. Another on the Old Course. Evenings spent together, with the scorecard conversation carrying on long after the clubs are put away. Here’s a simple plan for a golf weekend at The Homestead.

01 · TWO DIFFERENT ROUNDS

Make time for both.

THE CASCADES · PAR 71

The round to build around.

William S. Flynn’s mountain course is the centrepiece of this trip: 18 holes shaped by the Allegheny terrain, with a place in the story of Sam Snead. Give it a full, unhurried day.

Our suggestion: make this your Saturday round, with time for a warm-up and lunch afterwards. Choose tees for your group’s game rather than making the weekend a test of endurance.

THE OLD COURSE · PAR 72

A different rhythm.

The Old Course dates to 1892 and has the country’s oldest first tee in continuous use. Its unusual balance of six par 3s, six par 4s and six par 5s makes an appealing companion round.

Put it on Sunday if you have time for a full round before the drive home. Otherwise, arrive earlier on Friday or make the trip a three-night stay.

02 · THE WEEKEND PLAN

Good golf. Good company.

FRIDAY

Get everyone under one roof.

Arrive, settle into Park Lane and take the evening at an easy pace. Agree the next morning’s departure time, organise breakfast, and make sure everyone knows which course and check-in location you have booked.

Cook together or choose a local dinner spot. For the weekend’s restaurant plans, browse Bath County dining and book ahead where needed.

SATURDAY

Give The Cascades the day.

Have breakfast before heading out, and leave enough time for the journey, check-in and a proper warm-up. The house’s proximity to The Homestead does not mean you should plan to walk to The Cascades: arrange your own transport and confirm directions with the pro shop.

After the round, leave lunch and the afternoon flexible. Return to the house for a rest, take a village stroll, or simply enjoy an evening together around the dining table.

SUNDAY

A second round, if the timing works.

An Old Course tee time makes a satisfying finish, provided checkout and the drive home leave enough space. Plan for a full round plus check-in and travel, and arrange luggage before you leave the house.

If Sunday feels rushed, play the Old Course on Friday instead. For a mixed group, someone sitting out a round can follow our spa and Warm Springs Pools guide.

03 · BEFORE YOU PICK A DATE

Start with the tee times.

You do not have to stay at The Omni Homestead to play: Omni lists both courses as open to the public. Reserve directly with the resort, checking availability for your dates and the number of players. Check public tee-time information

Confirm the rate, what is included, cancellation terms and any rental or cart arrangements when booking. For more than four players, ask the pro shop about consecutive tee times; staying in one house does not mean everyone can play in one group.

04 · STAY TOGETHER

A home between the outings.

Park Lane gives your group a shared base in Hot Springs, around a ten-minute walk from The Homestead and the village. There is space for breakfast before golf, a kitchen for an easy dinner, and a living room for the conversations that make a golf trip.

A restored 1920s home with three bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms and space for up to seven guests. The beds are a king, a queen, and a twin-over-full bunk with a twin trundle; check the full layout and current house details on Airbnb.

05 · WORTH KNOWING

Give the weekend some room.

  • Check the season. The Cascades has a seasonal schedule. Omni lists the Old Course as open year-round, weather permitting; confirm both courses for your dates.
  • Leave a weather buffer. Ask about frost delays and cancellation arrangements, especially at the edges of the season.
  • Pack for the round. Check the current dress code and bring layers, waterproofs and your usual golf essentials.
  • Check the sleeping layout. Park Lane has a king room, queen room and bunk room. For a golf group, review the bed arrangements on Airbnb before booking.

Planning details checked October 17, 2026. Suggested itineraries are flexible; availability, access, prices and opening times can change. Check directly before booking.
